Clam Dig

Last weekend we drove down to Long Beach, WA for a mini-vacation
to relax and dig Razor Clams....

We heard it was a fun thing to do and everyone was right...
it was a blast.
We stayed at this cute little cottage.

We got up early and headed to the beach...

Brr....it was cold, cloudy and windy!

I loved watching this dog dig excitedly in the sand...
He never found anything but put his heart into it!

Searching for clams took patience....

Some muscle...

Some elbow grease...

Persistence...

And when we found success....it was like buried treasure!

And then the weather cleared up and the skies were gorgeous!

We got 20 clams and called it a day...
And then it was time to clean the clams...
oh dear.

Pretty much one of the grossest things I've done in my life.
But part of the adventure none the less!

On a double dare....

We came home and had an old-fashioned Clam Fry!

They turned out deeelicious!

The smoke is a nice special effect, huh?

Our friends, Megan and Brick, came over to help
us eat the clams....
So in the end we were cooking clams
for two life-long Pacific Northwesters
and they brought Texas Caviar for the true Texans!
