Bad hair in Seattle

It has been quite awhile since I blogged a little jig....
I have been reading everyone else's blog but just been too.....whatever....to post here.

I can't wait to post pics from Al's visit....
The weather during her visit was amazingly dreary and cold.

In fact, remember the "June gloom" that I wrote about before she visited?
This was the newspaper headline the Saturday morning of her visit....

But I was as happy as a clam while Al was here despite the rainy weather.....
More to come on her fun visit....

It's been a long, strange week.

I finally went to the doctor on Wednesday to find out why left knee was hurting....
I
A few months ago our friend Bryant convinced Tejal and I to train for the Seafair Half Marathon that is taking place next weekend.

Bryant is a true runner and has run several full marathons, Tejal is a runner too (although she will never admit it) and I.....am not a runner or even athletic in the least bit.

Bryant's goal for our team was to finish the half marathon in under 2 hours.

Tejal and I's goal was to not die.

So for the past twelve weeks we've been running our little hearts out.
About three weeks ago my knee started hurting when I ran on it....ice, rest and ibuprofen hasn't cured it so I finally went to the doctor.
He said it is a case of "runner's knee"....
Or "un-runner's knee" as I prefer to call it.

So I'm sad to report but I won't be running the half marathon.
If my knee feels better I plan to walk the half marathon, I'm hoping to see some power walkers in action!
Tejal's training has been right on course and she and Bryant are going to run the heck out of that course!! Go team Try!

On Thursday I had a very unfortunate hair incident.
It was time for a trim and some highlights so I decided to try a new salon.
To make a long story short, my visit to the salon ended very badly.

I liked the hair cutter girl at first and we agreed on how she was going to color my hair, we were looking at the same picture and it sounded "right on"...
But when she took the towel off my head and I looked in the mirror.....I was horrified.
It was white blond...platinum blonde....a million shades too light.
She was quite proud of her work and declared it fabulous....

I finally convinced her to tone it down and this time when she took off the towel I was horrified to see that it was darker than when I came in.....

And the cut is quite unfortunate too...

Looking back, some of it was my fault....I am far too trusting and optimistic.

I'm pretty sure I have never been this distraught about my hair and it has been quite an experience for Brian.....
I know that he has been frantically searching his mental marriage manual for a section titled, "What to say/ do when your wife is hysterical about a hair mishap."

I took a few pictures to give you an idea...and maybe it doesn't look so bad here but it's dark and in some lights it even has shades of red....

The unfortunate cut...
She chopped the heck out of the rest of my hair but left my side bangs long and shaggy...a disgrace.

Wow! That hairsyle looks like something from the 80s!! Now, you know why I always flew back to TX to get my hair done when we were in VA! I am not crazy after all! ;) Listen to you...a runner!! I am proud of you for even trying!! We're headed to Dallas in a couple of weeks for Dave's wedding (you were paired with him at our wedding) and I'll be paying Tiffani a visit....I'll let her know that you miss her!!

My goal is still "not to die"! Please, drag my body across the finish line so I will receive the finishers medal. -Tejal

Oh, it's not that bad! At least Brian doesn't offer to highlight it for you, like Chad does, and has actually done before - yikes! Talk about bad hair! My knees also hurt when I run - we are such athletes, aren't we??

Oh my goodness! Just read this post and I'm just disappointed that there aren't any photos of you as a platinum blonde - now that is something I think we would all like to see! I hope B was able to find something appropriate to say in his marriage manual. In all seriousness the color may not be perfect and your usual preference, but I don't think it looks bad at all. Maybe Great Clips wasn't such a bad option after all! One more reason to wear your adorable and stylish new hat!

On further review, Mike and I feel that your funny facial expressions, although awesome, are impeding our ability to accurately judge the extent of the damage...how about some more photos? I'm sure B will be happy to help you document the damage.
