Hopeful sadness

We had a last minute change in plans for our holiday weekend.
On Thursday my Grandpa passed away.
So we are now in Tulsa with our family to celebrate his life.
Here is a picture from a few years ago
of my mom, her brothers and Grandpa D.

He was a great wood worker and he made hundreds of these crosses
for his church.
The ministers take them to people who are in need of comfort.
Such a wonderful legacy.

It was hard to be gathering for such a sad occasion
but so neat to get to be with our extended family.
I love my cousins and we don't get to see each other
often enough. It's hard to believe we are all
"adults" now....
We took a trip to see the golden hands of Oral Roberts University
and they did not disappoint....they are enormous.

We thought it would be easy enough to climb up there
and get a better look and we had a few ideas....

Idea #1 didn't pan out...

Nor did our great idea #2...although Brian gave it a valiant effort.

Tomorrow we are off to Pittsburgh for the burial.
It's so good to be with family.

Sorry to hear Erin & Brian. In typical Berg family fashion, it looks like you're making the most of the occasion.
