One of the first pieces of advice we got when we arrived here was this....
Don't let the weather determine your plans...
Just get a good rain jacket and go do what you want to do....
otherwise you'll spend all your time indoors!
So we made plans with Tejal and my new friend Desiree to go visit a few of the local wineries on Saturday afternoon...
We were hoping for a nice day...the wineries in Woodinville are all within walking distance of each other so we were looking forward to an afternoon stroll and some fine wining....
It snowed most of the day Friday and the forecast for Saturday wasn't much better....
but we pressed on....
And it was chiiiiilly!!
Our first stop was Chateau Ste. Michelle

The winery grounds were gorgeous...
It was quite cold but I refused to have another picture of us with me bundled up in my fleece jacket so here I am...freezing but trying to be cute!

The highlight of the tour was the free tasting at the end....
Tejal didn't want her picture taken with Brian...
She said, But we're not married!!
Here's my friend Desiree and her hubby Mason.
A word about Desiree....
She's just a cool girl...
She has been a traveler nurse for four years, so she's a pro at all this and I am learning alot from her! She is making this assignment workable, doable....even fun!
Her and Mason packed up all their stuff in their SVU, towed his compact car behind them and drove cross country from Washington D.C. to Seattle.
I am just really sad that they will be leaving when her contract is up in September...

Before we left Texas, Alison gave me the most perfect gift for Seattle living...
a tiny pink umbrella!
It fits in my purse and I am always prepared for a little rain shower...
So as we left the winery...it started to rain but...
Never fear girls! I have my umbrella!
Ooops! Turns out my umbrella is really just a one-person umbrella!
We finished up at Red Hook Brewery
where we missed the tour but still enjoyed the burgers and brew!
Throughout the afternoon we watched the weather with amusement...
first rain, then hail, then snow, then back to rain..
It had been a long week of all work and no fun so what a treat to spend the day with friends... and good wine!

I can't believe that it snowed on you this weekend! That is craziness. You better take me to all these fabulous places when I come to visit! When does spring arrive up there?? Hope before my plane touches down in June!
So I take it there's no such thing as a "dry county" up in Washington... At least we all know where to go to get our drink on! Seriously though, snow??? You're missing out on some good ole Texas spring storms. No damage to your house as far as we could tell. Two days ago it got up in the low 90s and I had my pre-summer moment of just accepting the sweat. Honestly, I walked the dog and my SCALP was sweating.
