Circa 1990

Well, I just got back from the dentist...
and I am now the proud owner of a brand new tooth filling...

That's right I had a cavity...
What I am? A 12 year old that has been drinking too much soda pop??

I tried to be cool about the whole thing...
I mean every day at work I tell kids to not worry about having surgery,
that they don't have anything to be scared of....
the nice doctors will take good care of them...

Well, turns out I needed someone to give me that pep talk...
As I sat in the dentist chair I kept telling myself,
I am an adult...an ADULT....I am an ADULT...

I pretended to not be worried....
But I clenched my fists together so tight I think they lost all circulation...

I do have to say hats off to my dentist as the shot
of numbing medicine didn't really hurt...
And I didn't feel a thing after that...

And now the entire left side of my face is numb....

I've had a few cavities in the past few years. I tell myself my teeth just aren't as strong as other people's. Forget the fact the dessert is my favorite meal! And as much time as I've spent at the dentist's office over the years I, too, still get a little nervous (& clench my fists) with all that stuff. Go Erin! You did it!
