A note here about Starbucks....
As you may know....Starbucks was born here...the very first store is located downtown near Pikes Place Market. However, Seattle-ites claim to have no love for the chain....
Every time I visit or drive by a Starbucks (which are on almost every corner just like back home) they have plenty of customers...but people who live here never miss the chance to go off about disliking big corporate Starbucks and favoring instead the locally owned coffee shops.
In fact, my tour book devoted a whole section to explaining that despite the fact that many corporate giants like Amazon, Microsoft and Starbucks began here, local people have a general distaste for all things corporate.
That is weird to me for a couple reasons...
First of all, the economy here is supported hugely by these big corporations and secondly in the case of Starbucks, the whole local coffee shop idea was created by Starbucks....
everything they do is just a copy of what the Starbucks founder dreamed up years ago....
And you just can't ignore the fact that they offer health insurance to all their employees...that is huge!
Anyway, that's my take on that!
Brian told me this story when he got home from work today and I had to share it with you because it cracked me up...
Apparently there is a new groovy corner coffee shop in our little shopping area and someone has been sampling a little toooo much!!!

1. I knew it! Thats all those liberal hippies do out there. Bite the hand that feeds them, wash it down with some espresso and hug trees while wearing flannel.
