We made it!!
Our final day of travel, although stressful because we were in a major time crunch, turned out well.
We arrived in Portland around noon and got to have lunch with Brian's friend Brent and his lovely Ana....
We had great Cuban food and a great time with another old friend....
And then we jumped in the car and sped off to Kirkland......

We arrived at 4:35 and our moving truck pulled up at 4:40......
John was of course anxious to get our stuff off his truck and the apartment manager was in nooo hurry...
He wanted to give his crew time to finish up and wouldn't give us the keys until 5 pm, which was fine with us....
So John the mover and Dan the apartment manager then proceeded to get in what I can only describe as a "smart off" in which the two smart a**** had a lively discussion about what should happen next...
We just let them "work out their differences"....
Dan told us his crew was "putting the finishing touches" on the apartment and he wasn't kidding....
We walked in the apartment to find the crew still working...
We felt bad for rushing them so much...the paint was even still wet.....

Getting the couch in the door was a little tricky but they did it!
We had a few issues with John but overall we were really happy with the move...
Everything made it here safe and sound and in good condition so we really can't complain...
Right before he left, John and I had a little heart to heart...
he knew we felt rushed and wanted to discuss things...I told him that he had really stressed us out by arriving so early.
Apparently we had a little miscommunication....
We understood that he was going to arrive on Thursday, his understanding was that he had anywhere from Wednesday until Saturday to deliver our stuff.....
Ah-ha....it all makes sense now...
But we talked it out and we ended on a friendly note....
Everything was unloaded by 7:30...
We looked at each other and realized that we were hungry, tired and....
where the heck are the sheets?
The bedrooms don't have an overhead light, the light switch connects to a plug (for the lamp that we don't have)...
So we realized that we would be searching through boxes in the dark with a flashlight....
I think Brian took one look at me and realized...
this is going to end badly...for me....
So we decided to eat dinner and then head to a hotel for one last night and start fresh the next morning (in the day light!)
As we were checking in the perky hotel worker asked, "Is this for Valentines Day???"
Uh...no...was all we could muster.
So I did my nightly schlep of stuff to the room one last time....
I will not miss this nightly ritual one bit....
P.S. We've had a few snags since arriving....besides the phone service not working, the internet and TV not being installed as planned, we realized we had the wrong address...
So...if I gave you our address.... change the 9740 to 9736....
